On The Radio - Regina Spektor

Alma starting to wake up, learning how to do things, but this is also about her general temper in life even before she wakes.

This is how it works
You're young until you're not
You love until you don't
You try until you can't
You laugh until you cry
You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath

No, this is how it works
You peer inside yourself
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take that love you made
And stick it into some
Someone else's heart
Pumping someone else's blood
And walking arm in arm
You hope it don't get harmed
But even if it does
You'll just do it all again

Marquee Moon - Television

Could be a Flashback to how she meet None while going crazy. It didn't happen exactly like this way. and this is her own version of a "full moon".

I spoke to a man
Down at the tracks
And I ask him
How he don't go mad
He said 'Look here junior, don't you be so happy
And for Heaven's sake, don't you be so sad'

Blue Lips - Regina Spektor

She died of hypothermia by following a voice in to the cold.

I like so many of the lyrics...

"He stumbled in to faith/God this is all that there is" and with breathing pictures arising in his mind.

And tragic human condition that this character would be trying to tell people about as they marched down the same railroad tracks she stopped at.

They started off beneath the knowledge tree
Then they chopped it down to make white picket fences
They marched along the railroad tracks
And smiled real wide for the camera lenses
They made it past the enemy lines
Just to become enslaved in the assembly lines

Pressure - My Brightest Diamond

Working hard, getting overwhelmed. This is like when a person is overdoing it without realizing it. They'll get more and more worn down and ultimately if a stressor happens they might spiral in to illness.

I feel the weight of a billion years
(but) I try to do it alright
Working hard, little delight
I forgot the sound

(So bright/heavy/wild cannot mine/tame/name)
...I try to do it alright

Upside Down & Inside Out - Ok Go

Wake up time. It was confusing. It was giddy. It was frightening. It was glorious and colorful and full of joy. But maybe sometimes you'd want to vomit.

So when you met the new you
Were you scared?
Were you cold?
Were you kind?
Yeah when you met the new you
Did someone die inside?

Opening credits - Run Lola Run

All the possibilities. Alive. voices. running. yes! Imperative YES. To the universe, "I exist."

"At the end of our exploring we shall not cease from exploration . . . and the end of all of our exploring will be to arrive where we started. . . and know the place for the first time." - T.S. Eliot

"After the game is before the game" - Sepp Herberger

"The ball is round. The game lasts 90 minutes. That's a fact. everything else is pure theory. Off we go!"

Where Do I Begin - The Chemical Brothers featuring Beth Orton

blissed out. not just magic, but life.

Where do I start
Where do I begin

Where do I start
Where do I begin

and reminds me of this, ...plus lots of sex.

Try not to localize the mind anywhere, but let it fill up the whole body, let it flow throughout the totality of your being. When this happens you use the hands where they are needed, you use the legs or the eyes where theyare needed, and no time or energy will go to waste. - Takuan

Running One - Run Lola Run

edginess/agitation/energy going on. The kind that's building up from more and more stressors but which also digs up insight and productivity.

Ghost - Neutral Milk Hotel[1]

Going crazy with agitation towards fate. feeling a mix of helplessness and power. (Jeff Magnum wrote this album while thinking of Ann Frank.)

Ghost, ghost I know you live within me
I feel you as you fly
In thunder clouds above the city
Into one that I love

With all that was left within me
Until we tore in two
Now wings and rings and there's so many
Waiting here for you

Pi R^2 - Clint Mansell

Prone to quiet.

Two Headed Boy - Neutral Milk Hotel

More agitation. Listening. Hearkening back to her death when following voices in to the cold. But this is on the way out of quiet. The agitation is still around, though. until she fully recovers.

|I can hear as you tap on your jar
I am listening to hear where you are
I am listening to hear where you are
...

And I will take you and leave you alone
Watching spirals of white softly flow
Over your eyelids and all you did
Will wait until the point when you let go

This Too Shall Pass - Ok Go

A calming. healing.

Green Grass of Tunnel - Múm

More calming and acceptance. a relaxed letting go and gaining insight from flocks... from static... from... existence. More so than the Ok Go thing. that video has a lot of obvious determinism. Which isn't something Alma likes.

Down from my ceiling
Drips great noise.
...

And when I'm swimming in
through a tunnel
I shut my eyes.

Trip Like I Do - The Crystal Method

Wanting to share the joy of reality and existence. This is almost a constant state of being.

Another world
another time
In the age of wonder
Another world
another time
This land was green and good
Until the crystal cracked
...

Uh, I want you to trip like me, I want you to have fun
Me and you
Oh my God this is the best

I want you to trip like I do

Oh my God

I want you to trip like I do
I want you to trip like I do
I want you to trip like I do

We're All in This Together - Ben Lee

The experience of gaining insight from friends.

woke up this morning
i suddenly realized
were all in this together
i started smiling
cos you were smiling
and were all in this together
im made of atoms
youre made of atoms
and were all in this together
and long division
just doesnt matter
cos were all in this together

i saw you walking
in the city
were all in this together
the city's changing
cos we are changing
and were all in this together
every twelve seconds
someone remembers
that were all in this together
in the kitchen
of your rent-control apartment
were all in this together

cmon baby
i dont mean to rush you
i only wanted to reach out and touch you
ive gotta start to open my heart

i know you think
about jumping ship before it sinks
but were all in this together
ask a scientist
its quantum physics
were all in this together
and on the subway
we feel like strangers
but were all in this together
yeah i love you and you love her
and she loves him
but were all in this together

yknow baby
theres never been protection
in all the history of human connection
cmon darling
its alright to show me
you dont ever need to be lonely
once you start to open your heart

i saw you crying
i started crying
cos were all in this together

and then religion
its a big decision
but were all in this together

were all in this together

See Emily Play - Pink floyd

Trying over and over and over to get something done. Sometimes in futility, but with an unselfconsciousness earnestness and work. And I think of Syd Barrett and wonder if she'll follow his road somehow. and how much insight will she have in her life. how much misunderstanding and futile searching. what will it come to in the end. Will she be like Syd?

Emily tries but misunderstands, ah ooh
She's often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way

You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for May
See Emily play

Soon after dark Emily cries, ah ooh
Gazing through trees in sorrow hardly a sound till tomorrow
There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play

Free games for May
See Emily play

Put on a gown that touches the ground, ah ooh
Float on a river forever and ever, Emily (Emily)

There is no other day
Let's try it another way
You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for May
See Emily play

Untilted #1 Vaka - Sigur Rós

Trying over and over and over but in a state of relaxation and acceptance. with voices in an imaginary but almost recognizable language. (hopelandic). a lot better than the Syd stuff.

You sigh low tonight
You're so alone
You're so
You sigh low tonight
You're so alone
You're so
You're so low
You're so alone
You're so
You sigh low
You sigh low
You're so
(you're so)

you sigh low tonight
You're so alone
You're so
You sigh low tonight
You're so alone
You're so
You're so low
You're so alone
You're so
You sigh low
You sigh low
You're so

Liquid Calligraphy

a through z.

(the music isn't as cool as the visual effects.)

Marble Machine - Wintergatan

fuck determinism but this is amazing exact craft. precise expertise. accurate. let's make it and then smash it.

The Art of Flying - Jan van IJken

a murmuration.

Eet - Regina Spektor

You see him days after a dark murmuration. It's not good to go on your own. He goes on his own, and you are not equal to that.

When this person leaves for good, she doesn't want to forget him. Fuck that, she wants her memories.

It's like forgetting the words to your favorite song
You can't believe it
You were always singing along
It was so easy and the words so sweet
You can't remember
You try to feel the beat

All the Rowboats - Regina Spektor

smash all the violin display cases. bring paintings to life and let the rowboats float away. fuck the death of time.

Piece for Triple Piano - Vihart

play and play play until we can fucking win at basketball in a time and space that the universe creates out of pure joy for our game. And it gets to go home after the game.

I Can Change - Lake Street Drive

When I first heard this song I misheard the lyrics. I heard fate not hate. It made it seem like a story about history. There are all these fights that came before us, and we didn't do all that or make those choices but we are stuck with the consequences. Can we fight destiny? If we can win, where do we go?

Hate casts a long shadow
I know that I lie in it
And let it rule my mind from time to time
Escapin' an old battle
That clings on like a vine to me
Whispers dirty lies in my ear

I know we didn't start this fight
And I won't let it rule my heart tonight

I can change
I can change
I can still change
I can still change

Tracin' an old pattern
Drawing the lines from where I am and from where I wanna be
Forget that old adage
That history continues to keep us from a world we wanna see
I am scared that I won't get it right
But fear won't rule my heart tonight

I can change
I can change
I can still change
I can still change

I can change
I can change
I can still change
I can still change

I can change
I can change
I can still change
I can still change
