The Midtown area is a general mixed-use community of neighborhoods containing a business district, cultural center, university, and residential neighborhoods located along the east and west side of Woodward Avenue between Downtown Detroit and the New Center. Midtown is bounded by the Chrysler Freeway (I-75) on the east, the Lodge Freeway (M-10) on the west, the Edsel Ford Freeway (I-94) on the north, and the Fisher Freeway (I-75) on the south.
The area includes several historic districts, the Detroit Medical Center, and Wayne State University. Midtown boasts all the city's cultural giants and many economic ones: the Central Business District, Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Public Library, C. H. Wright Museum of African American History, Wayne State University, College for Creative Studies, Detroit Medical Center, Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall, Henry Ford Health Services, TechTown, and Masonic Temple.
