School Board: She's the de facto chair, in fact, even though the board doesn't officially acknowledge a chairperson. Pretty much anything to do with Detroit's public schools goes through her and her two fellow board members.
Idealist: Though older than a lot of her peers, Loretta was a flower child back in the day and still believes in a bright future for Detroit's youngsters. Despite her otherwise conservative sensibilities, she's entirely comfortable with society footing the bill.
All Success Students: DPS' answer to the No Child Left Behind Act of 2003 has been an unprecedented success. Loretta is justifiably pleased with the outcomes.
