By day, he makes coffee. He's friendly, handsome, and there's something a little dangerous about him: this turns some people on, this pisses some people off. He makes friends. He makes not-friends. Yet, his life as a human is shallow and plain, because he's never really understood what it is to be human. He tries, though. But he is not one: he is a werespider, an Ananasi. He is a predator, a hunter, a warrior in the name of his Great Uncle the Wyld. Here, in Detroit, he is an oddity: in a land so deeply in the grips of the Weaver's webs that it is suffocating, a spider comes... not to lay more webs, but to undo them? To bring change? Impossible: everyone knows the werespiders are servants of the Corrupter. Or perhaps not all things that look alike are the same. |
