Marina
The Marina District is a hodgepodge: overgrown and patchy sidewalks, buckled streets, and brand-new upscale real homes flanked by vacant land. The actual marina area is on the Detroit side, stretching from the Joseph Berry Subdivision at the west end to Reid Memorial Park at the east.
On this eastern end of the Marina District, the newly built and half-finished Michigan Waterfront Estates development marches along St. Jean Avenue, defended by a black iron fence; across from the clumps of new houses, the meadow-like and featureless expanse of Reid Memorial "Park" separates the homes from an equally featureless waterfront.
East of this new construction and separated from it by a tall chainlink fence, a large industrial area stretches northward, its warehouses and pavement an eyesore bordered by stunted trees.
