Self: A little bit of Misfit Lab Rat, a little bit of odd scientist. Like young ravens, has a mild neophobia about jumping in to things, but she pushes though it. She wants to give people real second chances, not this return to the wheel myth. Too many people want to cure what they don't understand or send them to hell for it.

Sometimes she's a difficult student. She's too smart for her own good.

If she didn't wear her hair in a ponytail it would get caught in the zipper of her vest of many pockets or fly in her face. "ptwww fppt plah", she says, as it gets in her mouth.

Mages: She recently woke up in Detroit.

As a new mage, she doesn't have a clear understanding of boundaries and where things fit. Anything that isn't "a default kind of thing" is magic, but where does that refinement really start? There is some sort of expertise gradient. maybe. Like, if someone spends a lifetime mastering the art of pencils? That's probably magic. We just may not know how to detect it yet.

She still thinks real scientific research shouldn't require faith to be replicated. It should work no matter what people believe.

She's willing to learn about established doctrines because they are instructive, but they don't really tell you how things really work. People are distracted by all of these stories. And notice how anthropocentric they are all are.

holy fucking shit it's a conspiracy to get us to use a second language to bias us all to a more utilitarian mindset. okay maybe it's not a conspiracy and people are just trying to learn stuff. self, stop kneejerking so much.

She thought mabye there wuold be fewer stupid fucking idiots in this group of people, but she's coming to realize that maybe she was a bit idealistic there.

Sorcerers: Sorcerers are mages, right?
Fera: Wolf birds! Not just wolves. At first I thought they were just a bunch of narcissistic murder-people who thought I was spying on them when all I'm doing is my job. Now I realize that people get afraid and will want to defend themselves the best they can.
Vampires: holy fucking shit. you mean to say vampires are real? no kidding? that's kind of terrifying. Note to self, avoid vampires because they will probably rip your face off.
Fae: Do they like crows? I like Matthew in Sandman.
People: Office hours in the Hall of Science and the outdoors. Help them grow or leave them alone? Guard their borders.

People in suits and pretty whitetablecloth clothing: frightening. People in useful clothes: trustworthy.

The City: meet it and call it hello. it's an insular hagiogeography.[1][2]
Nature: I love nature, but have you ever been bitten by it? Wet boots are pretty nasty too. Sometimes offices and dry clothes are really great.
