Alma's office in the Hall of Science a small office |
Cast: | |
Alma has left the door to her broomcloset office open. This office has a corkboard with a print of the official stamp of New Caledonia tacked to a corkboard. Also tacked to it are ripped pieces of paper with things like "screens", "tax!", "fix the thing" and museum slips and anything that can be tacked to a bullitin board. There are rocks and little nicknacks scattered around her monitor. Twigs and serrated leaves poke out of a cup along with pencils, pens, and sharpies. Books are jammed here and there. The bookshelves are too tiny Alma has a tiny open window <<DICE>> Jim rolls perception + alertness, difficulty 6 <<DICE>> 5 successes (2 5 6 6 8 9 9, Specialty: No, Willpower: No) Jim has his paperwork. His transcript, and the paperwork for the cross credit effort, all in a little folder as he comes to Alma's office. "Miss A..." he starts to say as he enters, when his eyes catch a particular little crow. The man pauses, and STARES at the bird. "Well howdy," he says to the BIRD. Alma grins but looks puzzled. "Note here says you are uniquely qualified for this job". Jim closes the door rapidly. Not slamming it, as the action is controlled. But the door is shut right away. He then leans on it, folding his arms. "So that's who you were spying for, little crow..." he says in the spirit speech, which is going to be very strange to Alma. He then looks to her. "Well there's clearly no denying it, if you're the one who sent this little lady after me. Do you always spy on your interns?" he asks with a chuckle. Alma balances a twig on her shoulder to entertain Note while she talks. "Well, not normally, but when we met you gave off some really weird vibes for a moment." She fidgets some more. "I wasn't sure you were safe to work with." What is this unmaking? I couldn't find much about it. I knew the world was weirder than I supposed. It's malliable. dizzying." She looks unhappy for a moment, and starts to fidget with a pencil--balancing it tipwise and letting it fall. "How do you keep track of everything? Are you really a student? I still have a job for you if you want it." Jim has a dual purpose with what he's about to do. First, he's going to try to shock her a bit. Second, he knows he's better at some things as a bird. So... the man puts down his little report folder on the chair in front of him, and then... shifts. Dropping down in size to a big bird, he flaps and brings himself to land on the edge of her desk, staring at her. Jim shifts into Corvid! <<DICE>> Jim rolls perception + primal urge, difficulty 6 <<DICE>> 3 successes (1 2 2 2 3 3 3 4 8 8 9, Specialty: No, Willpower: Yes) [POOL] Jim spends 1 points of Willpower. Asks Note, "You... didn't tell me about this. Corvids can become humans?" Turns to Jim, "What is your real name? How did you learn to be a human? Does it happen in eggs? Do you perceive time the same way we do?" Jim trills, and flaps. He then SPEAKS. With the same Texan accent. "Miss Alma, it's the other way around for me. I was born a human." Alma says, "But how... does this means humans can live in ravens? and be in another world? It's like an alternate reality? Jim steps forward on the desk, approaching her. "Miss Alma, calm down. I don't know what you are, but yes, I am half man, half spirit. Raven spirit to be specific. I talked to your little crow friend, who was very insistent on keeping your secrets. Which means she was probably going to be honest with me too, and I respect that. But there are those who are born ravens, and have a spirit in them as well, to become human. But I'm the other way around ma'am." Alma is really distracted. While Jim talks, she is sketching a big tree and placing ravens in it. "I've thought it would be fun to maybe live in a tree for a while. It could be like living in a dream or something. but this... woa. Why half? wait, can you have n spirits? like a little world of many beings inside one head? I sometimes try to wake up people in my dreams to see if they can wake up and be real. but... do you get more spirits later? I've only studied Spirit a little. I know a lot more about ecosystems all out of balancing and cyles and time..." Jim flaps again, his wings blowing a few pieces of paper off of her desk. "Ma'am, I reckon you're more blown away by this than I thought, for someone who talks to a crow and sends her on missions. I could still use the course credit though." Alma catches some of the papers. "Oh certainly! I was wondering if you have time to be a student. we can talk about this other stuff later... just humans? can you have crow wolfs? but seriously, how many hours a week do you have for this?" she mutters a little, "but Note never changes shape" while pulling out a calendar that has her schedule blocked out on it. Alma peers at Jim the corvid. Looks down at her paper. "Do you maybe want to have some binocular vision, Raven boy?" She closes one eye to stare at the calendar. "hmm. maybe it works". She watches Jim to see how he cocks his head to look at the schedule. Oh! which is dominate! I wonder if you think differently based on which eye you look out! ...should I read this to you?" Jim looks at her. "I do have binocular vision, miss Alma. I.. well, it's weird to think about it, since it's natural to me, but I move my head, and my eyes, because I can see more, and better, that way. My life has depended on that. I can certainly read in this form." But he hops off of the desk, and shifts back, so he can take his papers off of the chair, and hand them to her. "Here is my transcript, and my cross credit paperwork for you to send back to A&M, much obliged ma'am." He then sits. "As for schedule, I'm pretty open ended. I'm in an extension program and work from home on my own hours." Jim shifts into Homid! |
