The old Over Easy diner counter separates the front from the back area

where all the food prep and dish washing used to happen.

A large corkboard is covered with announcements and information. A

calendar, a signup sheet titled, "Rides", and emergency contact information for

the Ruth Ellis Center are prominant. Standing visible to the outside is a

rotating pie display case showcasing painted figurines and art projects. An

unfinished community mural has started along one of the walls.

A rolling baker's rack has been converted to shelving for books, tubs of

art supplies, games, gaming rules, and puzzle boxes. It's currently locked along

side a wall, but can be pushed to the back to make room for events. An old PA

system and mic stands are pushed out of the way on an raised dais in the corner

next to a window to make space for a comfortable reading chair.

Towards the back: A whiteboard is affixed to a large fridge with a list of

chores and assignments. There is an old metal food prep table on wheels that came

with the space. A sign slotted in to one of those restaurant table ring stands

sits on iti: "NO PAINT!!". It's underlined. The table has a lot of scratches in

one spot where someone had to scrub really hard. A laundry hamper sits next to

the back door with a sign swinging from it that says Laundryday/Clothing Swap.

Next to it there is a bathroom stocked with toiletries, sanitary supplies, safer

sex supplies, and a medical waste disposal.

front exit

A sign faces out from the glass door. "Second Stories Detroit" is mounted

on a background made from the marbled covers of old library books. Beneath it

hangs a chalkboard showing the hours for this week. It trails bells that ring

whenever the door opens. Just inside the door there is an umbrella stand. someone

has attached a postit, "Donate broken umbrellas!! We want nylon!"

Account for the person who plays Alma. She is a programmer, and can be found on github and launchpad as codersquid. A long time ago she was in college for a while and studied psychology together with computer science. codersquid is her username because compared to a coding octopus a squid is a code monkey, and it's funny to call yourself a code monkey. plus, she likes thinking of cognition and sapience in all forms, not just in primates.
